Introducing our 2026-27 Head Coaches

10A Tristin James

My love for softball began as a player and continues today as a coach. I was a four-time SPSL First Team pitcher at Puyallup High School, played select softball for Mukilteo Madness, and went on to play at Concordia University.

As a coach, I focus on teaching strong fundamentals, building confidence, and fostering a love for the game. Having played select softball, I understand the commitment families make and strive to honor that investment by helping every player reach their potential.

Next year will be our second season at the 10U level. During the fall and winter, we will practice twice a week and compete in one tournament each month. Our goal is to continue developing skills, increase versatility on the field, and most importantly, keep the game fun and rewarding for every player.

12u Joe Harrison

My name is Joe Harrison and this will be my 19th season coaching, but third year with New Level Softball. I strive to create a fun, competitive, and rewarding experience for every athlete on the team. I am highly driven and committed to helping players develop their skills, confidence, and love for the game. Building an inclusive environment where every player feels valued, supported, and empowered is at the core of my coaching philosophy. At the same time, I maintain a structured and organized approach that promotes accountability, teamwork, and long-term success both on and off the field.

This year I plan to carry 12 players on our roster and play in around 13 tournaments. Two of these tournaments will be traveling tournaments, but still within driving distance. As a player my expectations are simple. Have fun, work hard, compete, be respectful, but most of all, be loud!

With 20 years of coaching experience in both baseball and softball, including the last 8 years with New Level, I have had the privilege of developing athletes at both the local and national travel ball levels. My coaching philosophy centers on player development, competitive excellence, and helping athletes discover and cultivate a lifelong passion for the game. I believe that success is built through consistent effort, accountability, and creating an environment where players can grow both on and off the field. My goal is not only to develop skilled athletes but also confident young people who understand the value of teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship. The foundation of every team I coach is simple: Compete Consistently with Confidence and Class

As we enter our second year as a 12U A team, our goal is to continue building a competitive and development-focused program that challenges our players against the highest level of competition available. We plan to participate in approximately 13–14 tournaments throughout the year, including 3–4 out-of-state events that will provide valuable opportunities to compete against strong regional and national programs. Our schedule is designed to prepare our athletes to compete with the top teams in Washington while continuing to develop the skills, confidence, and mental toughness necessary for long-term success. We anticipate carrying a roster of 12–13 players, allowing for strong competition within the team while ensuring meaningful development opportunities for every athlete. By maintaining high expectations and a commitment to continuous improvement, we will strive to uphold our team philosophy.

14A National Nicole Costello

Softball has been a part of my life since elementary school, and I am passionate about giving back to the game that helped shape me as both an athlete and a person. I was a 4x All-American, 4x All-League selection, and MVP in high school, earning recognition as the first female athlete inducted into my city's Hall of Fame. After receiving multiple scholarship offers, I continued my playing career at Sacramento State University as a pitcher and second baseman. Today, I enjoy helping young athletes develop their skills, confidence, and love for softball.

My goal as a coach is to help players develop not only as athletes, but as confident, resilient, and positive young women who carry these lessons far beyond the softball field.

Expectations

First and foremost, I am here for the girls. My responsibility is to help each player become the best softball player and young woman she can be. While we absolutely want to win—and winning is fun—the best way to achieve that is by focusing on player development, character, confidence, and teamwork.

I believe in providing honest and constructive feedback. My goal is to help players identify opportunities for growth and give them the tools and support needed to improve. Coaching is about much more than softball; it is also about being a positive role model and helping young athletes develop life skills that will serve them long after their playing days are over.

I plan to carry 12 girls and participate in 11-13 tournaments

14A Jeff Coffey (2013's)

I have been coach and mentor youth athletes for 30 years, which includes baseball, football, wrestling and Fastpitch. I have coached many championship teams in these years as well as developing young athletes into better players & teammates. Last season was my first at New Level and was a very successful/productive season winning multiple championships as well as pushing our team to play up age divisions for nearly half the season with great success there as well.

My coaching philosophy is rooted in mentorship as well as discipline and organization. I strive to not only build good character but also develop every player into well rounded players and teammates. Having a cohesive group that works well and respects each other is key. I do not believe in getting respect out of fear but out of respect, which comes from treating players with respect while pushing them to levels I feel they can attain.

16G National Justin Tyree

In addition to his travel ball experience, Coach Tyree has coached at the high school level, giving him a unique perspective on athlete development, recruiting exposure, and the skills necessary to succeed at the next level. His passion for teaching the game and investing in young athletes has helped numerous players grow into leaders, impact teammates, and continue their softball journeys beyond youth athletics.

At the heart of everything Coach Tyree does is a simple belief:

Talent gets you noticed. Character, consistency, and work ethic set you apart.
